Buying your best Tablet PC
Everything you need to get started with a tablet PC
When you listen to any one talking about tablet PCs, you will hear the same story repeated over and over again that iPad is the only one worth buying. In fact, the story is different, Android tablet PCs are now playing a significant role in the market, as it is growing fast. Vendors delivering Android-based devices continue to fight for market share, price will decrease to further benefit consumers. There are so many tablets available today that choosing the right one can be extremely difficult. The devices can range from mainstream consumer tablets, to business-oriented models, to innovative combinations of both. They can be premium products or budget tablets. They can offer similar specs and similar price points, and are all attractive alternatives to the market-leading Apple tablet. If you are looking for an Android tablet, and you have not yet made your purchase, this article will guide you towards the best one to buy.
Some tablet PCs offer options to attach accessories to tablet itself that can completely change the tablet form to notebook mode, and other tablets come with unique features that are essential for improving performance. There are different sizes of screen such as seven-inch and ten-inch tablets. This article will attempt to break down all of the aspects you need to consider when purchasing a tablet, and also the best ways to get the most out of your purchase. Each tablet runs Android operating system, but there are different versions between them, such as Cupcake, Gingerbread, and Ice Cream Sandwich operating systems. Other things to consider include app availability and overall quality. Understanding these differences is very important when you make a purchasing decision and when you use a tablet daily for a variety of tasks. A little knowledge will go a long way to improving your tablet experience and to ensuring you are using the right device.
How to find your perfect tablet PC
There are many features and differences to look for when purchasing a tablet. Price is not always a good indicator of quality. The first thing to consider is what you intend to use a tablet for. Android tablets keep many of the stock Android features from smartphone. However, being able to work and play more efficiently is by no means a luxury, but rather the result of computing in the modern era. In fact, tablet PCs are now quite common in the workplace. For email, document editing and more intensive productivity tasks, a tablet can make life a lot easier. Many tablets now include cameras which can be useful for taking snaps, but are more commonly used for video calling over Wi-Fi or 3G. The experience is greatly enhanced by the bigger screens.
Think about the size of tablet you need and how each type will impact your daily usage. A ten-inch tablet could be too big to carry around and a seven-inch tablet may be too small to fully enjoy movies and web browsing. The arrival of Android Honeycomb and Ice Cream Sandwich finally made the platform a viable contender, they are effective platforms for large-screen devices.
The different sizes of Android tablets available at least gives you the opportunity to choose almost any size you like, so trying and testing each size in real life will help you to decide which works best for you. The operating system version plays a significant role here, it is recommended to look for a tablet PC with at least Honeycomb or Ice Cream Sandwich operating system on board because these versions have been designed to work specifically for the larger tablet screens. Some budget tablets offer Gingerbread operating system installed on the devices which is not quite perfect OS for tablet PCs, Gingerbread is intended for use on phones and is not fully optimized for the larger screen. Best of all, please make sure that any tablet you are planning to purchase includes access to Google Play because some of the budget devices offer their own app stores which are seriously limited from the default Google offering. When using Android for the first time, it is important to have a Google ID set up because this will give you access to the Android Market (Google Play) and superior connectivity to a full range of Google services built into the operating system. Android is a highly capable mobile operating system that will support you every single day and greatly enhance your tablet experience. So, read reviews and do your research to ensure you are purchasing a tablet that best suits your need and that will continue to do so over time.

I am looking for a tablet/ereader for college, and I have it narrowed down to a few tablets…I am in a budget of about $250. I want to be able to take notes on it, read my textbooks (so I need access to nookbooks), but I am also purchasing a laptop…what do you think would be my best bet?
Please try Pandigital

I’m looking for a 10 in tablet that has a full size USB port, resistive touch screen rather than multi-touch, good battery life, and preferably a wide viewing angle. I don’t care much about graphics quality or speed (I will be mostly reading/ annotating PDFs of journal articles). Any recommendations?
Kindle DX (9.7-inch dispaly) is recommended, since you mainly use it for reading. It has built-in PDF.
It comes with USB 2.0 (micro-USB connector) for connection to the Kindle DX power adapter or optionally to connect to a PC or Macintosh computer.
With Kindle DX’s long battery life, you can read on a single charge for up to 4 days with wireless on. Turn wireless off and read for up to 2 weeks. Battery life will vary based on wireless usage.
With Kindle DX, you can read as easily in bright sunlight with no glare.
I have had a Kindle DX for 2 years. I just spoke with a representative at Amazon because when I turned it on today 9-15-12 the screen is not working. Amazon does not repair Kindles and could not refer me to anyone for repairs. After paying $379 the best they could offer was a $76 discount for a replacement. It has never been dropped, wet or had any type of damage. Now it is worthless and still has 6 or 7 books that I still have not read. What a waste.
