Here are some of the positive comments to date (Pros):

• The screen is bright and can be adjusted. The resolution is good. The touch screen is moderately responsive.
• Upon visiting the Pandigital website, there is a firmware update to make the e-reader more like an Android tablet.
• It links with Barnes & Noble so it is very easy to buy books from them.
• Tech Support is great and does listen to suggestions.
• The Novel uses the Nook app but, it will take any .epub or .pdf from any of the publishers.
• The battery life is fine (about 3-4 hours with Wi-Fi turned on).
• Read books, check email, listen to music (earbuds needed), store pictures, and browse the internet.
• The reading experience is also good. Note taking, bookmarks, highlighting, looking up selected words in the dictionary, and also searching for selected words on Google, all from within the e-book.
• The browser is great, no problems in viewing any of the numerous websites.
• YOU CAN PLAY YOUTUBE VIDEOS ON THIS! but, you have to use an older version of the android “YouTube” app.
• The touch screen is the best resistive screen, very soft touch, very little pressure required.

There are some negative comments (Cons):

• The Black model is Android 1.5. Which means less apps available, and you do not have access to the Android Market. Also, 1.5 does not support Flash player, which many websites are still using for video, including Youtube.
• The Wi-Fi is a little slow but it works.
• DO A FIRMWARE UPDATE. Out of box, this thing was quite sluggish. After firmware update, it was fast as hell.

Conclusion from customers

Definitely recommend the black version over the white since the black is 2GB of internal memory vs. only 1GB for the white.

This is a great machine for the price, it is not as fancy as some others but it is a lot better than most and with full-colour, and all the android capabilities. It is a lot better than most of the other e-book readers on the market, including the Kindle, which is a lot more expensive. Recommend this to anyone , especially anyone on a budget.

Able to download apps without any hacking involved. Have games. Download the MS Office Suite, you can view / update Excel, Word, PowerPoint files on the fly. Highly recommend this product !!
